SEO Quake AdsSpy Issues?

SEO Quake along with AdsSpy is a powerful Firefox extension that allows you to slice and dice any online presence and literally put it under the microscope. For those of you that want to improve your SE rankings, you can’t get much better than this especially since it’s free. From the options panel you can set your search engine parameters to multiple variables to pull in stats. Before you use this extension you have to be aware of its complexities and possible conflicts… read on

The SEO toolbar for your browser shows various stats including internal and external links along with ranking information in all the top SE and Directories. You can also get keyword density information to help you fine tune your own SEO.

Condensed description

SeoQuake is a program, which allows user to view a large number of SE parameters on the fly. SeoQuake for Mozilla Firefox consists of three functional parts: SeoToolbar (requested parameters are shown in a separate toolbar in the browser), Seobar (requested parameters are shown in a separate, fully customizable with CSS, HTML block) and output of requested parameters on Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). ATTENTION! Frequent use of big amount of parameters may lead to the ban from SE. In this case, you will need to delete cookies and change proxy server.

The last few lines of the description should serve as a reminder that you will have to tread carefully when using SEO Quake. If it sounds a bit cloak and dagger it is, I find that there are one or two of the tools that for me, go just a bit too far, for instance the AdSpy utility. What I don’t like about this is the ability to show another webmasters AdSense ID along with how many sites they have using AdSense; I think there is a privacy issue here. I don’t see the point in spying on another webmaster in this way. I would be careful with this, apparently you can get banned from Google as it sends out automated queries, but you just have to be a bit cautious with it, just make sure it is off when just browsing or use a proxy server. There are easier ways to get stats for your AdSense campaigns by using Google itself within your AdSense account; they have recently upgraded the interface (see here!)

If you want to see feedback on AdsSpy then check this out there are one or two contributors who agree with me about privacy issues. Here’s a quote from one annoyed reader

“Is this the thin end of the wedge to hi jacking sites?”

There are plenty of contributors who will draw your attention to the benefits of AdsSpy and it does give you insights into how other sites utilize AdSense.

Any way you be the judge and leave your thoughts…

AdsSpy is only a small part of the SEO Quake tool box and it’s well worth your while downloading, you can use it with IE as well as FF.

This is a nice tool, except for its limitation. Anyway, this sounds so great. It could really help many to improve their page rankings. And the best thing is, it’s absolutely for free!

  • It is a great tool like a fine musical instrument. The more talent you have with it the better it works for you. But one glaring flaw exists. It gets you banned from Google and other services because of the large amount of automatic request sent to the search engines. This puts a strain on the search servers. There was some limited warning of this at download but not enough. I am sure many people got banned using this software and never knew why. The site suggest you use proxies and delete cookies to help you violate search policies in place to keep things running smooth. I can’t agree with that kind of thinking.

Google provides a great service to site owners and web users for free. Why would I thank them by hitting the servers in excess for silly stats. Its just wrong. Why make illegal software and why download from a place willing to walk all over other peoples sites and rights and encourage others to do the same? Are they willing to do it to you as well? I would hardly call them trusted.
