Part 5:  Q & A on Resell Rights

When you purchase resell rights, you will need to do some research to find out whether purchasing the resell rights will be profitable for you. Not all resell rights products are worth having, believe me there is a lot of junk out there.

First off, take a look at the product itself. Is it a quality product? Even though your name is not on the product itself, your name will be associated with selling the product, and you don’t want to sell junk. So, make sure that the product does what it promises, and that it is indeed of value and worthy of your attention, put yourself in your customers shoes, would you buy it?

Next step, you need to research the market. Is there a market for the product? An easy way to find out is to do a search in Google using keywords that potential customers would use to search for the product. Look at the sites that are advertising similar products. Some key factors to look out for…

The sponsored ads are the ones you are interested in. People and companies do not continually spend money advertising products that are not selling. If money is being spent on advertising, then there is a market for the product. Also look at related magazines to see if money is being spent on advertising.

Read the license agreement before buying the product. If it is not available to you without purchasing first, then walk away. You will want to check the license to make sure that you can market the product effectively, using methods that you know work.

You want to know if the sales letter converts, ask the vendor for conversion rates. Also you will want to make sure that you are allowed to change the sales letter as you see fit. At the end of the day it’s to your advantage to leverage as much control over the sales copy as you can for maximum sales potential.

Also see if you can find out how many people are currently reselling the product. Is the market flooded? Remember that 90% of the people with resell rights either won’t be reselling the product, or they don’t know how to effectively market the product. This is your chance to utilize a missed opportunity by other marketers.

After you’ve looked at all of these issues, and answered all of these questions, you will know whether you should purchase the resell rights product or not. If the product has profit potential, it’s worth buying. So with a bit of number crunching and research on your part you can profit.

This list is what i would say is as close a top 10 list that you will find anywhere, and if followed to the button will give you success. Now as an old affiliate friend of mine once told me, “if i don’t know you then how can I tell if you’re going to be successful in your endeavours” The same principle prevails no matter what your forty is. I suppose what im’ saying is its all down to YOU to make this work, nobody else is going blogpic-250x168 Top 10 Blogging Tips For Successto hold you by the hand, so get off your ass and work that blog. All of these tips assume like me that you are fairly new or completely new to blogging. You will notice that I have repeated one core value in this list “pillar articles” give it some thought and think to yourself what you have that you can give to your readers to make them keep coming back time after time. It will help you if you start with Pillar Articles and then build up each of the steps outlined. As you will start to realise this process snowballs and gains traction, think of it as laying down your foundations and building upon it.

1. Write at least five major pillar articles
A pillar article is a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good “how-to” lesson. This style of article has long term appeal; it isn’t news or time dependent and offers real value and insight. The more of these pillars you have on your blog the better.

2. Write one new blog post per day minimum
Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.
You don’t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to say 3 or 4 per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

3. Use a proper domain name
If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need a domain name that people will remember. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world. So you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords.

4. Start commenting on other blogs
Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles, your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people’s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog. (Don’t forget about Forums and social networks)
Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name and title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commenter and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

5. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts.
A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger’s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it’s sort of like your blog telling someone else’s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.
This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important; it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will likely come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

6. Encourage comments on your own blog
One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

7. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival (A What?)
A blog carnival is a post in a blog that condenses a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic or niche. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. More than often many other blogs will link back to a carnival host; and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival often enjoy a rise in new readers.
Do a search at blogcarnival.com for your particular topic.

8. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com
To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it’s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it’s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps! There are literally hundreds of blog directory’s’ so just type in top blog directory’s into any search engine to find the best ones but don’t spend too much time on this.

9. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com
This is another tip that doesn’t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately but it’s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have “your pillar articles”. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your (Resource or signature Box). You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website or blog. Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large audience publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

10. Write more pillar articles
Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I’ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won’t stay or bother to come back. Aim for two or three solid pillar articles per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 1 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

This is not a comprehensive list by far, but it is a list that I stick to personally. There are many more things you can do. Finding readers is all about testing to see what works best for you and your audience, there is no doubt in my mind that you WILL find a balance that works for you.
Blogging is an exciting medium for the masses and can be fascinating when you get involved in the discussion, the feeling of community is quite dizzying. Remember; word of mouth is a powerful tool, so once you have an appreciative audience then you will be well on your way to traffic in the thousands.

Have any tips that I haven’t heard about? Or maybe you have a few tricks that work well on your blog that could be included in this list. As always feel free to comment.

Swedish grocery store where private label prod...
Image via Wikipedia

Continiuing on from last weeks post “Q & A on Resell Rights

PLR materiel can be a very useful tool for the busy IM and can be used in a variety of ways to augment his or hers blogging and marketing. But what is the difference between Resell Rights and Private Label Rights

Many people are confused about the difference between resell rights and private label rights. Several mistakenly think that they are the same thing, and this is not so. It is easy, however, to understand how the two terms can be confusing.

If you have resell rights, you have the right to resell the product, in conjunction with the terms and conditions set forth in your license, as is. This means that you cannot alter or edit the product in any way, and you cannot put your name on it as the author.

If you have private label rights, however, you can edit and alter the product as you see fit, and you can even put your own name, or your company’s name, on the product as the author. You can change words, chapters, graphics, add to the product, break the product down into several different products - whatever you choose to do.

Because you have more freedom with private label rights, these types of products generally cost more to purchase the rights for.  Some products even have two options when you purchase them: resell rights or private label rights. In fact, you can use your private label rights products and sell the resell rights to others, after you have changed the product and put your name on it.

There is also a difference between resell rights and master resell rights. Resell rights simply give you the right to resell the product, while master resell rights allow you to resell the product and the resell rights!

Again, it is easy to see how one could be confused with these various terms. However, if given the choice, always go for the private label rights. This will allow you to have a product of your very own, without actually having to create one yourself. Most private label rights licenses give you much more leniency.

This is the start of a mini Q & A on Resellers Rights for anybody who is confused, Be no More!

In a nutshell, most top marketers today boost their income and add spikes to their traffic and edges to building their mailing lists through creative use and leverage on Resell Rights. And it can very well be your leverage to your next breakthrough in Internet Marketing, too, but only if you understand it first!

Resell Rights Question #1

Are all Resell Rights products the same in terms and conditions?

Answer

All Resell Rights are not created equally. Resell Rights vary from one product to the next, with different rights, terms, and conditions. In fact, some products that are contained in a Resell Rights package are not for resell at all, but are instead for personal use only.

If you purchase a resell rights package, which contains more than one product, the package will typically contain a resell license agreement for each product.  Do not assume anything! Read every word of the resell license before you resell the product, and keep that license in a safe place for future reference.

For some products, you may be allowed to resell the product for any price, or even give it away for free. Others may have a set price, meaning that you cannot sell the product for less than that price or give it away for free. In the case of physical products, such as CD’s or DVD’s, you may or may not be allowed to duplicate the product when you sell it. Some companies may require you to purchase the product directly from them for resell – for each sale.

There are usually other terms and conditions for reselling a product as well, other than the price at which you may resell it. For instance, most product authors will have strict anti-spam policies, meaning that the product cannot be advertised by any method that may be in violation of federal spam laws.

If you are ever unsure about your resell rights, contact the author of the product before doing anything else. You do not want to violate any terms or conditions, as it can and will be considered a violation of copyright laws, which is a federal offense. Make sure that you aren’t just asking another reseller – contact the author of the product directly.

Make sure that you don’t misplace your licenses. Print them out and keep them on a file. You should also back up electronic copies on a disk. Include any email exchanges with the product author as well in your backup files, including the emails that you send.

How to make better use of PLR

First up; for anybody who is not familiar with PLR (Private Label Rights) products, then here’s what you can do with them; on PLRs you have exclusive ownership of that product. You can then use it anyway you wish: change the packaging, the title, the contents; you can do just about anything you want with the product.

Finding PLR Products

One thing’s for certain you don’t have to look that hard to find PLR bundles, there are PLR membership sites everywhere. What you will find is that the quality of some PLRs is to say the least less than perfect; you get what you pay for, so shop around. If you do have poor quality PLRs on your hard drive then you will be doing a lot of editing. There is no point in just slapping this PLR on to your blog, you will have to work the articles and put your own stamp on it. The key to successful posts is rewriting the PLR and shaping it to your own style.

I use PLRs on many of my Blogs and websites;
I can’t proclaim to be an expert on every subject and have used many PLRs myself, but I still research the post properly before I publish the finished article. You might be quite surprised to know that a lot of popular blogs and big corporate sites use PLRs quite frequently.  What you will find from some PLR membership sites is that outsourcing is done by non English speaking writers. This is not good as the content is often poor quality and unreadable. I have come across such PLRs frequently and they take up a lot of time re-editing.

What you can do with PLR products;

There are a multitude of uses for PLRs, here are the main ones.
Offer PLR information products as free bonuses, or to opt-in to your email list. Or you can create your own original information products; how about making promotional content for your affiliates as an inducement to promote your main sale. PLR can also be used to create your own real estate for profitable Adsense sites. Of course PLRs are invaluable for updating your own money making blogs. You can rapidly create eZine content and an autorespondor series. Last but not least use PLR content to create viral eBooks; if you have Open Office then you can convert it into PDFs very easily. And with a good graphics editor like Dreamweaver or the free Gimp application produce great eBook covers.

The great thing about PLRs is that they actually encourage you to learn and improve your writing skills, forcing you to get your own personality across to your readers. It’s a great way to fire you up and start forming your own ideas for future articles. To make your articles sing out to the search engines you will need to start placing keywords throughout your post, this can be a progressive action which in time you will get better at.

One note of caution; Do not use other peoples content and then use it for ad filled blogs, this is Wikipedia’s definition of Splogs;  “Spam blogs, sometimes referred to by the neologism splogs are artificially created weblog sites which the author uses to promote affiliated websites or to increase the search engine rankings of associated sites” Beware because Google actively goes after these types of blogs or websites and bans them without a second thought.

PLRs are hugely popular and will continue to be so with millions of bloggers around the world monetizing their use.  “Happy blogging”

Q & A on Resell Rights series Part 3

Many people avoid resell rights products simply because they believe that they cannot compete with other resellers who are selling the same product, or they feel the market for that product may be flooded due to the fact that there are a great number of other resellers.

However, if you really think about it, most people purchase resell rights, and have no intention of reselling the product - they simply wanted the product. Others purchase resell rights to sell the product, but honestly don’t know how, or don’t use very effective marketing techniques. In fact, 90% of the people who hold the same resell rights that you hold are doing it wrong.

You must also consider the market. While it is harder to sell Internet Marketing related products, selling non-Internet Marketing products is easier than you think. The reason it is harder to sell Internet Marketing products is because most of the other resellers will in fact be Internet Marketers who do know what they are doing.

First, you must increase your marketing efforts. By doing more, you will put yourself well ahead of the 10% that are actually marketing the product correctly. Find new markets for the product and new ways to reach them. Consider holding teleseminars or joint venturing with other marketers who have large subscriber lists.

Next, make your package more attractive than other people’s. You typically will not have the right to change the product, but that doesn’t mean you can’t change the offer. Use other products as bonuses, as long as you have the right to give those products away. Beef up your package, and you will pull ahead of the competition quickly. Also, change your sales letter.

Don’t use the same sales letter that other resellers are using.

Make yours unique.

Current Yellow Pages logo.

I came across this interesting review while surfing today and it reminded me of my own dealings with Dropship companies. I myself had a go at starting my own online shopping mall with an American company called DSD. I suppose at the time I was sucked in by the sales pitch which promised all kinds of benefits. The package that i purchased was for your own online website (UK only) which came fully loaded with thousands of products from popular electricals to designer clothes. The great thing about DSD was that they pretty much dealt with everything from customer service to purchase transaction and delivery right to the customers front door, and to top all that only your company’s name appears on invoices and packaging.

Salehoo Review
If you aren’t familiar with Salehoo, it is one of
the most popular wholesale directory sites online. It targets sellers
looking to sell on ebay and similar auction sites. Given the site’s
past success on Clickbank, I decided it was worth looking into and
writing a review.

So this sounds great but! yes there’s a but; you have to work your arse off promoting your wares. Now i did realise this when i bought into DSD but i dont think that i really understood just how much promotition was envolved. The thing is with online stores you have your work cut out to make it profitable, there is so much competition out there. I tried the eBay route at first; now remember i was a complete novice, any way i took some time to research and find some products that I thought could potentially be profitable on ebay. The products that seemed like they could work were primarily more unusual products and accessories for popular products. It is nearly impossible to sell a PSP 3 or its games and make any profit, but you can sometimes turn a profit on the accessories for the system such as controllers. The same can be said for other popular accessories for iPods or iphone; just about anything that has a recognisable world brand name.

Since i wasn’t really tuned in my interest soon dwindled, the competition on eBay alone was pretty awesome and i figured that anybody who wants to buy new items only go to the stores that are well established, after all that’s what i would do. I don’t want to put a damper on starting your own shop and im’e sure with somebody who has the drive to succeed can make a living online. You have to realise that all your competition is doing the same thing and get their goods from the same big wholesalers or dropship company’s and there isn’t much difference in their prices. So in order to compete you have to cut your prices to the bone and sell in bulk. I do agree with the chap who wrote the Salehoo review and would dissuade any newbie from taking the eBay route unless you follow the same sales plan as described in his review. You really have to be on top of your game. As for resources, well eBay themselves as you would expect have a comprehensive FAQ and loads of advice. I did find the eBay forum to be invaluable because your talking with likeminded people who are very helpful and a lot have been there from the beginning.

Going down the eBay road is fine but you should look at a variety of ways to generate sales. Your online presence needs to be visible to everybody so it is a good idea to use the likes of Google Base which is free (Pick the right demographic). You can use Kelkoo to further promote your products, for premium listings you could try shopzilla and do a search for shop and compare sites to expand your choices. If you have an email list by all means use it, offline resources like Yellow Pages can’t be ignored either but will cost. It’s a good idea to put your shop on these listings and the likes of Yellow Pages will discuss the best listing for your budget needs.

I still have my online store and i think i will keep a hold of it for now. I know that like just about any other online presence it takes time and effort to fully see results. One piece of advice i would be give if you want to go ahead with this is to give it your full undivided attention and if you need advice then join a good forum.

Also check out Ryans Review on Salehoo. While the list of Salehoo’s suppliers is not as extensive as Worldwide Brands, it is one of the largest on the internet and is also one of the most affordable drop ship directories on the internet.

Good Luck, Leave some feedback on your experiences i would love to hear your views.
